Our Brewery Wins Big at the Great Taste Awards 2025 with Three 3-Star Beers and Two Golden Fork Nominations.

Independent Irish brewery celebrated for world-class flavour across 11 award-winning beers

Tuesday, July 29, 2025 – Northern Ireland

Our Brewery is raising a well-deserved toast this week, having taken home an outstanding 11 Great Taste Awards, including three of the prestigious 3-Star accolades, the highest honour in the global competition. Two of those beers — Untamed and Razma — are now nominated for the Golden Fork, one of the top prizes in the international food and drink world.

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards are the largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for food and drink. Every product is blind-tasted by panels of industry experts with no branding or packaging visible, making it purely about one thing: taste.

A Triple Crown of Three-Star Beers

Out of over 14,000 entries from 110 countries, fewer than 2% achieved the coveted 3-star rating. Our Brewery earned that recognition for:

  • Untamed – Barrel Aged Wild Ale V1

  • Razma – Barrel Aged Keptinis Beer

  • Low Land – Barrel Aged Oud Bruin Brown Ale

The feedback from judges was nothing short of remarkable.

For Untamed, the praise was unanimous:

“This really is a next level beer.” “The flavour is extraordinary.” “Absolutely wonderful, outstanding and a thrill to judge.” “The finish is balanced, long, refreshing and makes you want to go back again and again.” “This ale has clearly been through a labour of love and nurture and it is phenomenal.”

Crafted with native microflora and aged in oak barrels for 27 months, Untamed is a wild ale that showcases patience, skill, and a fearless approach to flavour.

Equally impressive was Razma, Our Brewery’s barrel-aged Keptinis beer, which captivated judges with its uniqueness and depth:

“Wonderfully impactful on the palate.” “The finish is extraordinary, with nuanced levels of flavour persisting for some time.” “Complex and multi-dimensional.” “Fascinating and deeply enjoyable.” “This has blown us away and we loved the whole experience.”

Inspired by ancient Lithuanian brewing traditions, Razma is a bold and unconventional creation that pushes the boundaries of modern beer.

The third 3-star winner, Low Land, an Oud Bruin (brown ale) aged in Red Bordeaux oak barrels, was praised for its elegance and drinkability:

“Ridiculously drinkable, with teasing complexity.” “One judge said they would like to sip this from a brandy glass by a roaring fire.” “Complex but not challenging." “A real journey on the palate.” “This is divine and extremely worthy of three stars.”

Five Outstanding Beers Earn Two Stars

Beyond the 3-Star winners, Our Brewery earned five 2-Star Great Taste Awards, signalling beers that are “outstanding” and “above and beyond delicious”. These beers were also blind-tasted and recognised for their standout character:

  • Light Up Gold – West Coast IPA

  • Do You Wanna Funk? – NEIPA

  • Prime Time of Your Life – Belgian Triple

  • Séasúr – Barrel Aged Mixed Ferm Saison

  • Terra Nocturne – Barrel Aged Imperial Stout

Each beer impressed the judges with flavour integrity, stylistic balance, and brewing technique.

“It's been our vision to create world-class products that put Northern Ireland on the World Beer Map and I’m so proud of what the team have achieved,” said Deborah Mitchell, Managing Director of Geterbrewed and Co-Founder at Our Brewery. “We started as a small-scale homebrew shop in 2013 and have diversified into not only supplying ingredients but making our own award-winning beers and gin, and built a team around us that loves what they do.”

A Well-Rounded Recognition: One-Star Awards

Completing this year’s success, Our Brewery also picked up four 1-star awards, a mark of excellence granted to products that are “simply delicious” and highly enjoyable:

  • Once In A Lifetime – Oatmeal Stout

  • Orderly Fashion – Rice Lager

  • The Crunch – Brown Ale

  • Frankie and Eileen's – Craft Gin

“I was overwhelmed with pride, mainly for the team to get the recognition for all their hard work. I felt that it was deserved,” said co-founder Jonathan Mitchell. “The quality of the beer is phenomenal, the work ethic of the team is phenomenal, and I’m really appreciative of that.”

About Great Taste: Where Flavour Comes First

The Great Taste Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Food, are the most rigorous and respected food and drink judging process in the world. Every product entered is blind-tasted by a rotating panel of over 500 industry experts, including chefs, buyers, food critics, and food writers.

This year’s judging took place over 110 days, with entries submitted from 110 countries, making it one of the most competitive and comprehensive editions to date.

Great Taste is more than just a logo. It is a global mark of trust, highly sought after by consumers and retailers alike. Winning a 3-Star award places Our Brewery among the top 1.8% of all entries worldwide.

Golden Fork Awards: What’s Next?

Both Untamed and Razma are now shortlisted for a Golden Fork Award, the highest honour at Great Taste. These awards recognise the very best products across all categories — from cheese and charcuterie to condiments and, increasingly, craft beer.

The Golden Fork winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony in London this September, attended by industry leaders, food media, and some of the most talented producers from across the UK and beyond.

When asked what makes these beers special, Head Brewer, Michael said, “I think these beers are really special because there is nothing like them locally. It all started with Johnny's passion and his desire to do something really different with beer. I feel lucky to be a small part of that. The work, advice and support put in by all parties allowed us to get these beers to the best possible play that they could be.”
